This Benifuuki tea is a true Japanese-grown black tea — a rare treat outside Japan since black tea production in Japan is less than 1% of its whole tea production (99% of raw Japanese tea leaves are made into green tea). Benifuuki is a very special Japanese tea plant cultivar that was developed in 1965 via hybridization between Camelia Assamic and Sinensis. It has a high level of a specific type of catechin called methylated catechin. The leaf has a black and rough appearance and is processed evenly. Benifuuki infusion has a golden red color and the resulting liquor is light and smooth. Either hot or iced, this Benifuuki black tea is a true delight.

Directions

2 tsp per 8oz/200ml of hot water @ 80°C-90°C/175°F-194°F for 2-3 Minutes.  A sweetener like sugar or honey can be added as per taste. We also encourage you to experiment with the quantity of tea leaves and the length of the steep time to find your desired brew strength.

For COLD BREWED ICED TEA, use the same leaf quantities, but half the water, allow it to cool, and then pour it over ice and enjoy. The brew will dilute down to proper strength as the ice melts.
